Record Break Loch Earn Brown Trout

This record breaking Loch Earn brown trout was taken by Bonnybridge angler Archie Sommerville on the 19th June 2005 fishing bait from his boat near to the fish farm cages. Fishing 10lbs line, the huge fish took over an hour to land and measured 37½' in length and had a girth of 22½'. From scale analysis it was established that the fish was just over 6 years old, young for such a large fish. It was also at the time the sixth heaviest brown trout ever landed in the UK and beat the previous record held by Gavin Gilmore from Kincardine by a massive 5½lbs
